Since 1977, Sutter Instrument has grown because of its loyal customers. The company is committed to continuing to support products created both today and decades ago. All of company’s development and manufacturing is localized in Novato, California facility. Sutter's machine shop is one of the finest in Northern California, using state-of-the-art CNC machining and turning machines to produce precision mechanical components. This allows for rapid product development, continuous improvement, and customization of any product to meet customers' needs. The company has real people answering the phone, and they try to answer questions as soon as they receive them.
Dale Flaming, a scientist working at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), was having trouble reliably making micropipettes for use in retinal cell research. To facilitate his research, he developed the first electronically controlled micropipette pooler. Demand for additional poolers from his colleagues prompted the creation of the Sutter Instrument Company. Since then, the company's product line has expanded to include amplifiers, microscopes, micromanipulators, and imaging products. To this day, Dale remains the company's active CEO.
Since its founding, Sutter has grown from a small garage to a 55,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Novato, California. With more than 70 employees, many of whom have a background in neuroscience, the firm prides itself on helping scientists around the world get the devices they need to do their research. In 2007, Sutter became partly employee-owned, creating the ESOP.
You can buy Sutter Instrument products in Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Ukraine, Kazahstan and Europe from its local distributor Tregoland OU.
