MP-285

Motorized Micromanipulator Sutter MP-285

High precision motorized three-axis micromanipulator for patch-clamp, extracellular registration, microinjection, intracellular registration and precision robotic positioning techniques.

The MP-285, one of the first in Sutter's line of precision motorized micromanipulators, is reasonably priced while offering cutting-edge features often found in manipulators that cost far more. The mechanical system's foundation is made up of specially designed stepping motors, precise cross-roller bearing slides, and exclusive worm gear capstan drives. To reduce electrical noise radiation in your system, the controller powers the stage motors using a discrete linear power supply. With one of many distinctive and sturdy mounting methods, pipette holders and headstages are firmly attached to the MP-285.

The MP-285 is appropriate for patch clamp investigations, extracellular recording, microinjection, intracellular recording, and precision robotic moving operations. It was created to address a wide range of positioning needs for the scientific community. The system's distinct, definable fourth axis for pipette diagonal movement is a standout feature. After choosing the angle, you turn on the fourth axis. You can move with adjustable coarse or ultrafine resolution, choose the range of motion, and move progressively or in tiny step increments, just like with the other three axes. Simply choose the Home feature to rapidly adjust initial pipette's position. The vacuum fluorescent display clearly shows the positions of the axes in both relative and absolute scales.

The MP-285's exceptionally low backlash reduces drift and the "open loop" technology's previous shortcomings. This enables submicron resolution in the coarse range down to 0.2 microns and in the fine range down to 40 nanometers. The MP-285 offers a huge range of travel while maximizing resolution with nearly an inch of motorized movement on each of the three axes plus a user-designated fourth axis.

All of Sutter's manipulators allow for the configuration and adjustment of the 4th axis without the need to access an additional computer or download and install software. In contrast to other designs, the MP-285 allows you to set up a virtual diagonal in the X-Y plane, which is useful when the manipulator is configured as a 3DMS (3D movable stage) and you want to start moving along the diagonal between two positions on a horizontal specimen. You can also use the Y-Z axis when the device is rotated 90 degrees.

Our manipulator integrates effortlessly with your other components and is supplied with a table-top or rack based controller. The MP-285's small size and assignable axes make it simple to incorporate into your setup in any direction. The rotary optical encoder (ROE) ensures a pleasant experimental setting that is tailored to the scientist, which furthers its usefulness.

The MP-285 offers easily programmed robotic control via the keypad or via a remote computer for those that need repeated motion sequences. The system may execute a set of instructions once, repeatedly, or backward. It can hold up to 500 position instructions, including pauses.

Our technical support staff is always on hand to resolve your worries and provide information before and after your purchase.
