When making micropipettes, patch pipettes, and microinjection needles, the P-97 Flaming/Brown type micropipette puller is the best option. The P-97 includes enhancements in mechanical, electronic, and software design while keeping many of the characteristics of preceding models. Better pulling process control and increased reproducibility are the results. The P-97 blends an advanced, programmable microprocessor controller with a tried-and-true mechanical mechanism. The investigator can create application-specific pipettes from a large variety of glass compositions and sizes thanks to the pulling parameters' adjustable control.

The P-97's design has also included a few more advantages. The environmental chamber that encloses the heating filament is the most noticeable. The purpose of this environmental room is to reduce the impact of fluctuating humidity on the repeatability of drawn pipettes. Using larger heating elements, larger diameter glass, and multi-barreled glass is possible thanks to a 25% boost in power over the P-87. To reduce heat retention, the metal jaws that clasp the heating filament have also been altered. For big diameter and multi-barreled glass, a prolonged cooling period is provided via a gas supply mode switch. For simpler loading of glass, a spring-loaded fastening mechanism has been introduced. There is now a vacuum fluorescent display that makes viewing simple.

A display of the total heat-on time is one of the software upgrades made to the P-97 to help with program management and troubleshooting. The P-97 can now write and store up to 100 programs in memory, making it appropriate for many users. With the addition of write protection, these programs can now be secured against unintentional modification or change. The most recent date and time the script was written or updated are displayed on the screen. Additionally, a customizable setting for air pressure is included.
