The four-axis mechanical micromanipulator is used as an auxiliary in complex experiments or as a tutorial in tasks that do not require submicron positioning accuracy. It has a rotating base.
The MM-33 is a compact, useful instrument that works well with other Sutter's micromanipulators and is offered independently for individuals who need it for applications that don't need submicron accuracy. The MM-33 is the best option for confined spaces that demand greatest adaptability in a compact area. The vertical lock is excellent for locking the vertical axis' position and boosting stability. Additional flexibility is provided by the tiltable X-axis and optional rotating base.
Cross-loaded roller bearings made of stainless steel are intended to provide minimal side play, low friction, and smooth linear motion. To ensure continual contact and accuracy, the pre-loaded rollers are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the hardened steel guides. With little backlash, this precision rack and pinion drive provides stable, drift-free movement. Because the controls are arranged one above the other, placement requires fewer hand movements. The fine micrometer adjuster for the X-axis thrust is calibrated at 0.01 mm with estimations to 5 µm, and the scales for all directions are calibrated in 0.10 mm increments.
The MM-33's utility is increased by the optional rotating base, which adds two more rotational planes. A positive stop, detachable mechanism allows for speedy insertion and withdrawal of pipettes during the rotations in the horizontal plane (about 120 degrees). The MM-33 may be tilted in a vertical plane from 0 to 70 degrees using the second rotation axis. The fine axis can tilt up to 45 degrees with the optional tiltable X-axis. Since the changes are installed at the factory, these choices should be ordered at the time of purchase.
