The Lambda HPX is the latest generation of liquid-cooled LED light sources with high performance.
The most recent iteration of liquid-cooled high-output LED light sources is represented by the Lambda HPX. The Lambda HPX, built around a single 90W 4.25 mm LED die, produces illumination that is similar to that of a 200W xenon arc lamp. It is able to maintain the low junction temperatures necessary to meet the manufacturer's predicted minimum bulb life of 60,000 hours thanks to a silent, vibration-free liquid cooling head (pre-filled at the manufacturing). (After 60,000 hours, the HPX is anticipated to still produce 70% of its light output.) The compact, precisely-machined LED head can be mounted directly on a microscope's epiport with the accompanying microscope adapter (specify at time of order). With no liquid light guide losses, this allows for the greatest quantity of light to be coupled straight to the scope.
The Lambda HPX was created to dim the LED utilizing either PWM or current regulation since LEDs exhibit color shift with current change. For the majority of situations, PWM will be preferred since it keeps the LEDs running cooler. 28 kHz PWM switching is high enough for usage with the majority of high-speed cameras. Dimming via current regulation is also an option for those whose applications cannot tolerate pulsed output. On the front panel screen, PWM and current data are conveniently shown and manually configurable via control knobs. The integral shuttering time to turn on and off is 10 microseconds.
Analog input can also be used to control PWM externally. TTL input and output provide triggering directly from a different device, such as a camera or digital IO board, or via software. Using no-drip fast connectors, the LED wire and cooling lines may be removed from the chassis with ease. This enables simple setup and cable routing across your system. The LED life is maximized thanks to active temperature monitoring.
Between 430 nm to 700 nm, visible light is produced. There is a cool white LED as well as a "tungsten" white LED (see spectra). There are special order units available with wavelength-specific LEDs at 630 nm, 530 nm, 460 nm, 405 nm, and 385 nm. In order to construct a two-channel system with any configuration of wavelengths, the Lambda HPX can also be coupled with Sutter's FLED.
