Classic 4-axis mechanical micromanipulator designed by Huxley. Ultra-precise displacement is performed by large micrometers located at the bottom (3 axes). The coarse micrometers are located on top (4 axes).
Many researchers still believe that the traditional micromanipulator that Sir Huxley created many years ago is the best manual micromanipulator on the market. The MP-85 has the benefit of both accurate submicron movement with the fine controls and a very wide range of motion with its integrated coarse manipulator. An integrated three-axis manipulator allows for coarse positioning. The huge micrometers positioned on the base allow for ultrafine placement. These micrometers have a 10:1 reduction mechanism that allows for precise, smooth movement.
The MP-85 micromanipulator is made of brass and stainless steel, making it exceptionally weighty, substantial, and damping-efficient. Patch clamp recording, intracellular recording, and any other application that cannot tolerate drift are perfect uses for this incredibly stable architecture.
To stop corrosion, the MP-85 has been chrome-plated and anodized. The bearing surface of the rotating base, which J.R. Wall created, is made of a thin Teflon washer and is machined from hard stainless steel with a brass spindle.
