How EchoMRI™ systems work

EchoMRI™ uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxometry technology, also called quantitative magnetic resonance (QMR) technology, to provide direct measurements of total body fat, lean mass, free water and total body water. EchoMRI™ measurements are the most accurate and reliable body composition analysis (BCA) method available today, validated against chemical analysis in several different published studies. EchoMRI™ results also correlate highly with those obtained with DXA, but EchoMRI™ has important advantages over other existing BCA methods.

EchoMRI™ is the only technology on the market today that allows BCA to be performed in such a short period of time, with such a high level of accuracy, without the need for anesthesia or sedation, and without radiation, which can be considered a health problem. Thus, it is possible to track changes in adipose tissue over time with repeated measurements taken at regular intervals — every hour, if necessary — and throughout the duration of the experiments. This allows obesity to be accurately tracked and minimal changes in body composition caused by natural changes, diet, medication use and other forms of intervention.
