The WPI's OxyMicro Fiber Optic Oxygen Meter is used together with MicroTip, MicroFlow and MicroImplant microsensors.
A generation of sensors based on luminescence lifetime.
The sensor system's measurement method is based on detecting oxygen concentrations as a function of luminescence lifetimes, whether in dissolved or gaseous phase conditions.
The stability of the light source and variations in ambient light place restrictions on the accuracy of conventional fiberoptic oxygen sensor systems based on intensity measurements. Measurements made with a luminescence lifetime detector are not impacted by changes in the sample's optical properties (such as turbidity, refractive index, colour, etc.), changes in the stability of the light source, or intensity fluctuations brought on by fiber bending.
Calibration: The sensors can be calibrated using a straightforward two-point calibration at 100% and 0% air saturation.
Compact and portable fiber optic oxygen meters are the OxiMini and OxyMicro. They may be connected to a PC using an RS232 interface and are made for indoor and outdoor use. With the help of the provided program, data can be seen, examined, and stored. There are a wide variety of sensors available.
OxyMicro is a one-channel oxygen meter for fiber optic oxygen microsensors.
MicroTip – A needle-type (27 ga.) oxygen microsensor with a small tip size (50 µm) and a quick response time (t90) of 1 s is called the MicroTip (501656). The 140 µm fiber that makes up the oxygen-sensitive sensor tip is trimmed to a 50 µm tip. It may pierce a septum rubber or other comparable material since it is contained inside a stainless steel needle that is 22 mm long and 0.4 mm in diameter. They are perfect for analyzing the oxygen content of sediments and biofilms.
MicroFlow – A miniature fiber optic chemical sensor with a quick response time (t90 <1 sec for gases, <5 sec for liquids) is the MicroFlow Oxygen Sensor (501657). The tiny probe is built into a T-shaped flow cell and has a tip size of 50 µm for simple Luer-Lock adaptor connection to external tubings. Water, blood, and other liquids can be pumped through the cell.
MicroImplant – The MicroImplant Oxygen Sensor (501658) is an implantable probe (IMP) with a probe tip size of 50 micrometers, an exposed fiber length of 5 millimeters, and a jacket diameter of 900 micrometers. Crabs, fish, and soil all received it with success.
