Temperature Pods

Temperature Pods from ADInstruments are suitable for general temperature measurement in the range of 0-50?°C using thermoelectric cells or temperature sensors.

Thermocouple probes or transducers can be used with ADInstruments Temperature Pods to measure general temperature in the range of 0 to 50°C.

Thermocouple Probes compatible with Temperature Pods:

  • General Purpose Thermocouple Probe
  • T-type Implantable Thermocouple Probe (0.6 mm)
  • T-type Ultra Fast Thermocouple Probe (IT-23)
  • Rectal Probe for Rats
  • Rectal Probe for Mice
  • T-type Implantable Thermocouple Probe (0.4 mm)

Transducers compatible with the Thermistor Pod include:

  • Skin Temperature Probe (2 m)
  • Nasal Temperature Probe
  • Thermistor Temperature Sensor

Signal conditioners from ADInstruments are incompatible with other data acquisition systems and only work with PowerLab data acquisition devices.

Configurations

T-type Pod

ML312

Appropriate for general temperature readings using T-type thermocouples in the 0 to 50 °C range.

Thermistor Pod

ML309

Ideal for biological measures like the detection of respiration and the measurement of skin and nose temperatures between 5 and 45 degrees.

Features

  • Thermocouple voltage signal is amplified to produce 10 mV/°C at 25 °C (T-type) and 50 mV/°C between 5 °C and 50 °C (Thermistor).
  • Filtering to lower noise bandwidth enables monitoring of swift temperature transients. (T-type Pod filters by a 2 pole 10 Hz Butterworth filter, Thermistor Pod filters by a 3-pole 10Hz low-pass filter).
  • The input connector temperature is directly measured for the T-type Pod's Ice Point Reference adjustment.
  • A switchable offset circuit in the Thermistor Pod offers a delta temperature option for measuring relative temperature.

  • ±0.5 °C for 0 to 45 °C

  • Response time (T-type Pod only): ~40 ms (10 to 90% of range)
  • Overall response time will depend on the response time of the thermocouple device
  • Amplifier noise: 1 μV p-p (0.1 Hz to 10 Hz)

Thermistor Pod

  • Measurement ranges: 5 °C to 45 °C in absolute mode Δ1 °C to Δ20 °C in five ranges with Delta Temp on
  • Output voltage: 50 mV/°C (0 mV = 25 °C)
  • Temperature accuracy: ±0.2 °C absolute (25 °C to 45 °C)
  • DC drift: 3 μV/°C
  • Response time: ~200 ms (for a full scale change in temperature)
  • Overall response will be dependent on the thermal response of thermistor probe
  • Temperature offset range: 50 °C overall (–5 °C to 45 °C absolute)
  • Input connector: 3-pin mini audio connector
  • Enclosure size: 108 x 58 x 35 mm (l x w x h)
  • Weight: ~200 g
