Spirometer Pod ML311

The Spirometer Pod, which provides basic measurements of human respiratory flow using an appropriate respiratory flow head and a PowerLab data acquisition system, is excellent for classroom use. The LabChart software and its Spirometry Extension make it simple to derive respiratory waveforms and parameters, which include

• tidal volume
• minute ventilation
• respiratory rate
• peak inspiratory flow (PIF) 
• peak expiratory flow (PEF) 
• forced vital capacity (FVC)
• forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1)

Suitable respiratory flow heads include

• Respiratory Flow Head 300L (humans at rest)
• Respiratory Flow Head 1000L (humans during exercise)
• Heated Pneumotach 800L and Heater Controller (ideal for humans during exercise)

If necessary, Respiratory Flow Heads 1L and 10L for designed animals are also offered.

The Spirometer Pod is incompatible with other data acquisition systems and may only be used with a PowerLab data acquisition system. When greater accuracy, resolution, precision, gain, filtering options, and stability are needed, a research-grade spirometer is also an alternative.

• Low air flow resolution and low noise
• Built-in low-pass filter at 30 Hz. Depending on the PowerLab model being utilized, further filters (1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 Hz) may be provided.
• Compensated volume and forceful respiratory parameters can also be calculated using ADInstruments respiratory flow heads and the Spirometry LabChart Extension software.
