Model 1800 2-channel Microelectrode AC Amplifier

Two-channel microelectrode amplifier with two heads ??¤ for extracellular registration and stimulation with high-resistance metal microelectrodes ??” For work on nerves and muscle cells ??”

EXTRACELLULAR RECORDING/STIMULATING WITH HIGH-IMPEDANCE METAL MICROELECTRODE

The Model 1800's high-gain, low-noise differential amplifier stage is followed by low-pass, high-pass, and notch filters on each channel.

Key Features:

  • Low Noise - 1 µV p-p, Greater Than 100 dB CMRR
  • Easy to Use - Analog Controls, Record or Stimulate Modes
  • Customizable - Spike & LFP/EEG Recording, Gain and Filters

The Model 1800 Microelectrode AC Amplifier is a two-channel, differential amplifier designed for extracellular recording and/or stimulation with high impedance metal microelectrodes in research and educational applications. Additionally useful for extracellular neurophysiological recordings from excitable tissue, such as nerve and muscle (EMG), EEG, EKG, and ERG recordings, it is also suitable for single-cell spike recordings.

Low-pass, high-pass, and notch filters are placed after a high-gain, low-noise differential amplifier stage in each channel of the Model 1800. There are three operational modes available to provide recording, stimulation, and electrode impedance verification. Three levels of signal gain are available in Record Mode (x100, x1,000, x10,000). The current flowing through the electrode during stimulation can be measured in the stimulation mode. Impedance Mode makes use of a current source that is internally calibrated to enable in situ evaluation of electrode impedance.

In addition, by routing the post-headstage data to both Model 1800 channels, each of which has independent gain and filtering, the Model 1800 can be adapted to record both spike and LFP-EEG from the same electrode-headstage combination. The whole functionality of both channels is preserved as a result of this update in case you decide to return to your regular usage patterns. Headstages Required for Model 1800

Pre-amplifying headstages are necessary when using the Model 1800. Headstages are purchased separately and are initially calibrated to the base unit. The Model 1800's headstage is compact and practical. Its length is 4 inches (10.2 cm), and its diameter is 0.535 inches (1.395 cm).

It comes with a mounting rod that is 0.187 inches (4.7 mm) in diameter and 5 feet (1.5 m) of silicone-jacketed Superflex cable that can withstand mild acids, alkalis, and solvents. If necessary, this cable can be extended to a total length of 12 feet. For price and information, please get in touch with us.

All metal electrodes terminated with Cooper/Wire-Pro/Amphenol style Reliatac 220-P02 connections (product number 520200), including all of A-M Systems' metal electrodes, can be mated with the current Model 1800 Headstage's short interconnects.

A matching microelectrode holder must be acquired in order to use glass micropipette electrodes with the Model 1800 headstage. Without the need for a connection, any pipette holder having a 2 mm pin can mate directly with the headstage.

The Model 1800 includes:

  • Operator's manual
  • Rack mount hardware
