The Mikro-Tip BP Foundation System is suitable for measuring blood pressure in small and large animals. Combined with a PowerLab 8/35, Bridge Amp, the LabChart and LabChart Pro, it gives the essential tools for measuring and analyzing cardiac function.
Mice, among other small and large animals (e.g., sheep), can have their blood pressure measured using the Mikro-Tip BP Foundation System. The user can insert the sensor into an artery or the heart to measure blood pressure directly with this Mikro-Tip system's compatibility with a variety of Mikro-Tip pressure catheters (separately purchased). The LabChart and LabChart Pro Module software included in this system, along with a PowerLab 8/35, Bridge Amp, and catheter interface cables, offers all the necessary instruments for measuring and evaluating blood pressure and figuring out heart function.
Separate purchases are required for Mikro-Tip Pressure Catheters. The tools required to calibrate pressure transducers are also included in the Pressure Gauge Kit, which can be purchased separately.
With the proper Signal Conditioners and Transducers, the 8-channel PowerLab 8/35 data acquisition system enables simultaneous recording of not just blood pressure but also other physiological parameters like temperature and ECG. The ability to extract data and analyze blood pressure to calculate systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure as well as monitoring heart function by calculating dP/dt is provided by the LabChart program in conjunction with the Blood Pressure Module.
