DAM Series - Extracellular Amplifier with Active Probe

Standard amplifiers designed for extracellular potentials. They are battery-powered and have a compact housing that allows them to be placed in close proximity to the object of study. They have current injection and ionophoresis functions.

A family of very low noise battery-operated extracellular amplifiers

Features

  • Battery powered to eliminate line noise
  • High pass and low pass filtering
  • Single ended or differential operation
  • AC amplification only
  • Includes low-noise headstage
  • Variable output positioning
  • Low intrinsic (shot) noise thanks to construction using high-quality parts
  • Portable
  • Rack mountable

The DAM80 Startup Kit includes: 2-CBL102, 5469, 2-13388, 3294, 2033, 2034, 2-2035

Benefits

  • Very low internal noise
  • Ultra quiet DC power supply — no AC required
  • Intrinsic low susceptibility to ground loops
  • Small footprint
  • Cost-effective
  • Electrostatic Discharge??€Protection!

Applications

  • Amplifying biopotentials from metal electrodes
  • Brain slice field stimulation
  • EAG (Electroantennogram)
  • ERG (Electroretinogram)

The DAM series amplifiers from WPI are well recognized as the industry standard for amplification of extracellular potential. The tiny chassis profile of these battery-operated bio-amplifiers allows the user to place the device closer to the preparation and reduce long lead lengths, which add to noise. Each amplifier has a position control to offset any galvanic potentials that may arise while recording as well as selectable high and low filters.

The startup kit (included) is shown in the image below.

Remote Active Headstage

The DAM80, an AC amplifier alone, has a very low noise headstage probe that may be put in micromanipulators for extracellular recording from high impedance glass or metal microelectrodes in close-up cortical recording experiments. Moreover, a gated current for tissue labeling is provided by the unit. For glass microelectrodes, use the MEH7W-XX microelectrode holder (sold separately).

Current Generation

The DAM80 is ideal for creating gated or manual currents for cell stimulation, iontophoresis, or histology labeling. For very high impedance amplification using glass or metal electrodes, it features a remote active headstage with extremely low noise.

Portability

The DAM series amplifiers can be mounted comfortably within the work area using optional clamp-mounting hardware, or they can be utilized as freestanding devices on any tabletop. An alternative is to use a rack mount kit (#3484) to mount two amplifiers into a typical equipment rack. To customise your application, a range of link up accessories are available.
