A tiny infrared analyzer with remarkable stability, minimal upkeep, and a linear output functions used as the instrument's brain. Within minutes, water condensation is prevented by the heated measurement cell. The graphic LCD display provides for continuous quick response or breath-by-breath peak end-tidal reading (ETCO2) and displays CO2 concentration in percent or mmHg. One calibrated gas and ambient air are used for calibration.

The CapStar-100's quick response time enables end-tidal response plateaus at respiratory rates of 100 breaths per minute.
