Master-9: the 9-Channel Stimulator

Master-9 is the 9-Channel Stimulator with repetitive, single and train outputs. Monophasic and biphasic pulses and ramp outputs. All channels can be operated independently, or synchronized to produce complex paradigms.

Main Features:

  • There are nine independently programmable channels with outputs for trains, singles, and repetitions.
  • Ramp outputs and pulses that are both monophasic and biphasic.
  • All channels can be used independently or in unison to create sophisticated paradigms (e.g. Theta-Burst).
  • Deliver pulse trains in succession across all channels.
  • Utilizing the optional ISO-Flex SIU scale and choose constant current or voltage pulses.

Use some channels to stimulate your preparation while activating other instruments (such as an oscilloscope or computer) in time with the stimulation.

Modification on-the-fly:

Change the parameters while keeping the stimulus going. For instance, while stimulating, alternate between different stimulation rates (e.g. from 98 PPS to 102 PPS).

A Wide Range of Pulse/Train Separation Times:

Intervals ranging from 40 µs to 3,999 s! 8 decades starting at 25 KHz in frequency.

?۠V Voltage Steps

Even with biphasic pulses, each channel may give voltage increments of ?۠V.

Simple switch-off stimulation: crucial in situations where a sudden cutoff in stimulation is necessary.

A standalone stimulator that can also be configured using a computer: t he touch screen on the front panel is used to configure all parameters. Nine independent tests can be stored and switched between with ease. Every experiment employs every channel.

When Connected to a PC (via a USB Interface):

  • New experiments can be downloaded and uploaded.
  • From a computer, you can adjust the Master-9's settings based on the results of experiments.

Scheduler:

Make changes to parameters and switch between tests at predetermined periods using the robust scheduler.

You can control the Master-9 in 3 ways:

  1. As a stand-alone unit — via its front panel touch screen.
  2. Via your PC – using our Master-9 CONTROL Software
  3. From within your own application/program (MATLAB, LABVIEW etc.) – using new Master-9 SDK.

Operating Modes

Any of the following modes of operation is possible for each Master-9 channel:

  • Free-Run: The channel transmits pulses that are repeated.
  • Single pulse following triggering (manually, internally from other channels, or externally).
  • Twin: Following triggering, twin pulses.
  • Train: Following triggering, a train of pulses.
  • DC: Regardless of the time settings, the channel outputs DC.
  • Gate: The channel sends out repeated pulses each time an input signal is applied. The channel ceases to function once the input signal is interrupted.

??‹Inter-Channel Connections

There is no requirement to connect cables between channels because each channel can be internally connected to any other channel. Each channel has the ability to simultaneously link to several other channels internally.

Outstanding Features of the Master-9:

  • Nine channels with train, single, and repeating outputs.
  • Ramp outputs and pulses that are both monophasic and biphasic.
  • NEW – Random times separate pulses.
  • NEW – Waveforms stored in Excel files can now be downloaded, saved, and delivered (up to 32K points)
  • NEW – Record external waveforms, preserve and transmit them (e.g. SINE WAVE)
  • NEW – Deliver the inverted potential while recording the membrane potential in real-time (e.g. inverted action potential)
  • Even after unplugging the source, the Master-9's memory retains the waveform.
  • Now, the recorded waveform can be transmitted in the FREE-RUN, TRIG, TRAIN, and TWIN modes of operation.
  • Up to nine distinct recorded waveforms, one for each paradigm, may be saved.

Use some channels to stimulate your preparation while activating other instruments (such as an oscilloscope or computer) in time with the stimulation.

All channels can be used independently or in unison to create sophisticated paradigms (e.g. Theta-Burst).

Parameters

Each channel operates within the following ranges:

Number of Pulses per Train: 1 - 59,990

Pulse Duration: 4 μsec - 3,600 sec

Delay Time: 4 μsec - 3,999 sec

Interval Time (1/rate): 40 μsec - 3,999 sec

??‹Voltage Range

Each channel delivers output pulses with amplitudes ranging from -10V to +10V, with a maximum current of 20mA.

Combined Pulses

Programmable pulse combinations are delivered via three supplementary outputs.

Two Additional Clocks

Master-9 has 2 internal clocks in addition to the normal 8 channels: The first clock measures the amount of time that has passed since an occurrence and counts the seconds up to 24 hours (for example, the beginning of the experiment). The second clock is used to measure intermediate times since it measures time in tenths of a second up to one hour.

AC Power

110/230 Volt, 50/60 Hz.

Rack Mounting

Master-9 is compatible with standard 19-inch rack mounting.
